Online 404 launches October 16, 2026 in Steam Early Access on PC only. The date already moved twice, from July to September 25 to October 16.
Online 404 Release Date: October 16, 2026
Online 404 is planned to launch on October 16, 2026 on PC through Steam, and it lands as an Early Access release rather than a finished version. The Steam store page still says the game is not yet available, so nothing is playable today, and the developer has never published an exact unlock time or a 1.0 date. What follows is the confirmed timeline, not a guess.
- Release date: October 16, 2026, listed as the planned release date on the Steam store page
- Format: Steam Early Access, established by the developer in the June 28 announcement
- Platforms: Windows on Steam only, with no console, Mac or Linux version announced
- No 1.0 date: the developer has never said when the game leaves Early Access
- No unlock time: the hour the game unlocks on October 16 has not been announced
Online 404 has already been postponed twice. October 16 is the current plan, not a promise, so re-check the Steam page before you plan a purchase. The 1.0 date and the exact unlock hour are both still unannounced.

Why has the release date moved twice?
The first public plan came on April 29, 2026, when the developer introduced the project as a demo in June and an Early Access launch at the end of July. That original date never happened. On June 28 the developer announced the demo would be pulled from public access at the end of the month and gave a firm Early Access date: "Online: 404 will enter Early Access on September 25, 2026." That post is where both the September date and the Early Access format were first confirmed in writing.
Three weeks later, on August 26, the developer reversed course again, stating that they had decided to postpone the release by three weeks so that the new release date is October 16. That announcement is the most recent official word on timing, and the Steam store page now carries a planned release date of Oct 16, 2026 to match. A September 24 report from GameRant independently checked the store and reported the same thing: the game is planned for Steam's early access program on October 16, after a previous September 25 date.

Is October 16 Early Access or the full game?
It is Early Access, and the developer was explicit about why. In the same June 28 post the team explained that in an open-world co-op survival game it is difficult to predict every possible situation players may encounter, so it wants to keep refining the game with players inside it. The August delay used the same reasoning, taking more time to polish rather than reacting to a technical failure.
Early Access here does not mean a stripped-down prologue. The June 28 announcement states that the build will already include the full story and all previously announced gameplay mechanics, and possibly more. The trade-off is that balance, values and content can still change while the game is in Early Access. The 1.0 date, the point at which the developer would call the game feature-complete, has never been announced.

Which platforms are confirmed for launch?
Only PC. The Steam API data for app 4094350 lists Windows as supported and marks both macOS and Linux as unsupported, and no console version has been announced anywhere in the developer's public posts. The only external link on the store page is the official Discord, because there is no separate developer website to point to.

That has two practical consequences. Players on Steam Deck or Linux have no native Linux build to fall back on, and the Steam Deck question is genuinely open, since Valve has not published a compatibility rating. Both topics are covered in detail in our Online 404 system requirements page, and the launch-day questions are collected in the Online 404 FAQ.
Who is making Online 404, and how long have they been at it?
Cornfield Games is a married couple working with four cats, and the developer has said they have been building this for more than a year. The team describes itself as small, which explains both the Early Access decision and the care they take with demo bug reports. Cornfield Games both develops and publishes the game, and the store page lists a support address of hello@cornfieldgames.com alongside the Discord server.

Online 404 multiplayer is co-op for up to four players, solo or in a team, with in-game chat. Steam also tags it Massively Multiplayer, which is unexplained.
The Online 404 smartphone is the core survival tool. There is no recipe book: you search an in-game web for answers while ads and CAPTCHAs get in the way.
Online 404 needs a DirectX 12 card and 16 GB of RAM. Minimum is an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT on Windows 10, with 60 GB of storage.
