Online 404 Demo: 60,000 Players, and Why It's Gone
The Online 404 demo ran from June 14 to the end of June 2026 with over 60,000 players. It has since been removed from Steam and cannot be downloaded.

Online 404 needs a DirectX 12 card and 16 GB of RAM. Minimum is an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT on Windows 10, with 60 GB of storage.
Online 404 Multiplayer: Co-op and Player Count
Online 404 multiplayer is co-op for up to four players, solo or in a team, with in-game chat. Steam also tags it Massively Multiplayer, which is unexplained.

The Online 404 smartphone is the core survival tool. There is no recipe book: you search an in-game web for answers while ads and CAPTCHAs get in the way.
Online 404 Crafting: Workbench and Scavenging
Online 404 crafting runs through the crafting menu in your phone Notes app, near a workbench. There is no recipe list, you search and scavenge.
Online 404 Base Building: Car Parts Fortification
Online 404 base building uses wood for structure and scavenged parts for defense. The store page says to bolt a car door or hood onto your wooden wall.
